A normal paintball gun uses compressed air in order to launch the paintballs at high velocities which is why a properly tuned paintball gun will increase the longevity of the gun and at the same time, improve accuracy and reliability on the paintball field. In order to properly tune a paintball gun, you need the following items: paintball gun (of course), warm water, soft sponge, soft cotton towel, paintball gun oil, chronograph and paper targets. In the following, we will present a small list of instructions which will properly tune any paintball gun.

1. The first step you will need to accomplish is to disengage and remove the air canister of the gun. Safety is very important which is why the gun must not be able to fire during the entire tuning process.

2. After that, clean the marker by using the sponge and the warm water we just mentioned above. The water will dissolve any of the paintballs that are lodged in the barrel and it will also dissolve any remaining paint splattered on the outside of the paintball gun.

3. You will now need to dry the gun by using the soft cotton towel. You must make sure that all of the water is removed so that you will be able to properly lubricate the marker.

4. Now it is time to apply exactly three drops of paintball gun oil to the moving parts of the paintball gun. By proper lubrication, it will ensure optimal timing for your shots and at the same time, it will help you avoid any unwanted jams.

5. It is now the time to check the O-rings for any damage. Damaged seals can cause serious dangerous situations if the compressed air tank releases its contests toward a paintball player. These should be replaced as soon as possible in order to avoid such unpleasant situations.

6. Get a paper target and place it at chest level and about 20 to 50 yards from your regular firing location. If you are using a paintball sniper rifle, longer ranges should be used. For assault rifles as well as other close combat weapons, use shorter distances.

7. Get the chronograph and set it to measure the speed of the paintballs. You need to be aware of the fact that safe paintball firing speeds are between 275 to 300 feet per second.

8. Now it is time to attach back the paintball air canister.

9. After attaching it, adjust the paintball rifle scope or align the sights to the center of the target.

10. Fire 2-3 shots at your target and take note which of the shots hit the correct area.

11. Last but not least, you need to make any further adjustments to the scope or regulator as necessary in order to attain a perfect hit and speed. Use the sliding wheels of your scope and the paintball gun or tank's regulator settings as directed by the manufacturer. This process varies by marker.

All things considered, the process of properly tuning a paintball gun is not that hard and can be done by practically anybody that has time and patience.
