There are some people that sometimes find the same thing quite boring as it is being seen over and over again. Some sports fans would like to see something different every once in a while. With that said, the traditional way to box has been so famous that some viewers wished they could see a different variation of the said sport. Some may have the privilege of seeing such by watching cable TV showing foreign channels or going to a different country that practices boxing in a faster and more fatal fashion. A few may go to this extent just for the fun of it.

While the world is watching on the international boxing scene on who will win or who will take the belt, in many countries where this sport has been a passion, there are places where boxing has not just been a sport, but also had been a part of the culture of a country. Thailand is one of these countries. They have been using their form of boxing, or commonly known as Muay Thai, as their way of martial arts and in teaching soldiers to fight when their weapons have been disposed of. This also acts as their form of self-defense.

This kind of boxing has been adapted since long that it had already been a part of their life and entertainment. Before, the said sport had just used bare hands, bare feet, and knees to battle it out with their competitors or opponents. However, ever since someone died from this sport while having a contest of strength and skill in front of one of the kings in Thailand, it had been imposed for Thai boxers to use Muay Thai gloves and wrapped fabrics on knees and feet to avoid fatal blows that can kill a boxer right away.

Ever since that time, the Thai way of boxing has changed a lot. A few of the changes is that there are now foreign practitioners of the said sport. They are given a different title so that the people can distinguish the art being used by the peculiar martial artists. Aside from people using the said art, purposes of the said sport has also expanded its use in forms of entertainment in feasts, fitness regimen, and more. Also, it has been noticeable that there are now boxing equipments like shin guards, trunks, and other protective accessories that are now adapted in exercising Muay.

Although this different way to box has not been accepted much in the international boxing arena, Thais are still proud that they have made a sport that could have been an inspiration for their country fellowmen to pursue on one of the best-loved sport in the world today. The way Muay in sporting punches, knee blows, and kicks are pretty much of what can be used when being engaged to boxing. Speed, agility, endurance, flexibility, and will are seen in both sports, which make Thais as one of the many Asian countries that are fanatics and enthusiasts in monitoring how this sport is being followed worldwide.
