Talking of adventurous sports, there are few people who would miss out on Rock Climbing. One of the most adventurous sports in the world, rock climbing can get your adrenaline rushing. There are many enthusiastic climbers who set out for rock climbing to the most exciting rock climbing destinations like El Capitan in US, Wharepapa in New Zealand, Paarl Rock in South Africa, Kalymnos Island in Greek and several other places all over the world. While these places are particularly challenging, however no matter where you are going for rock climbing, there is always some level of risk associated with the sport. In a way, that is what makes it thrilling too.

However, before you set out for a thrilling rock climbing venture it is essential to be fully prepared. No doubt rock climbing is an exciting sport, but it is as risky. There can be serious injuries or even death if you lose your balance anytime during the climb. So, it is necessary to get your rock climbing kit with all the necessary supportive equipment in place. Have you included the climber’s chalk that is extremely essential for the right grip?

Many people may remember to take care of everything but forget one of the most essential things for climbing, the rock climbing chalk. Though it may not appear like to be a major part of the kit, climbing chalk has a very important role in rock climbing. What makes it so essential? Climbing chalk absorbs the sweat in your hands, thus preventing the slipping of the rocks from your hand. Absorption of the sweat and drying the hands also creates a friction between the rock surface and your hands required for a better grip. Hence, it is greatly responsible for creating a better grip which is an indispensable requirement in rock climbing. Further, chalk also reduces the rips and tears that your hand may get while climbing on the hard rock surface, therefore forgetting climbing chalk while you set out for climbing is not a good option.

The next question that arises is what kind of chalk to use. Chalk was conventionally used in powder form, which basically consisted of magnesium carbonate. However, nowadays chalk is available in the forms of chalk balls too, which are good from the carrying purpose and don't fall around. Both powder and chalk balls can be used for climbing purposes. The climbers chalk available nowadays is very advanced. It does not dry the hands like conventional chalk and also includes many essential oils that soothe the hands and prevent growth of bacteria on them. The use of chalk is not restricted to rock climbing; it finds great use in gym and sports like gymnastics, weightlifting and all such sports that require the player to have a good grip.

Thus, chalk is not just a supporting material but a very essential component of the rock climbing kit. Finally, if you are a starter, it is better to try climbing at less risky places and take the proper training and tips from experienced climbers before you start climbing on your own. With that have a great climbing experience.
