Forbes.com recently released their list of the 10 best employers in retail and just in time when retail is one industry thats expanding its workforce albeit temporarily. The increase in retail workers even during these holidays only is already positive news everyone is hoping will pick even after the holidays. Americans need work and almost all are no longer choosy because what is important is that they are wearing a work uniforms which is a clear sign that they are working for a company or a store. Still, it would be nicer if the environment you work with makes it easier to work day in and day out.
Retail stores, like a uniform store, know how important it is to keep a lifetime customer. That is why they spend millions of dollars in mass-marketing advertising each year in order to generate greater sales. Unfortunately, it can easily take a plunge if customers encounter a not-so-nice customer service. They get turned off and would probably not buy their work uniforms or corporate apparel in that particular uniform store anymore. But, if the employees are happy, it shows in the way they interact with customers. And most of the time, this increases the sales of the retailer. The survey asked the employees to rank employers based on criteria such as career opportunities, communication, compensation and benefits and employee morale. While each one has a different reason for choosing which companies to apply to, employees stay if they are truly satisfied.
Companies should always remember that their employers are also customers who expect to be satisfied with the benefits they are providing, and where their efforts and hard work are recognized through commission based sales policy, monthly bonuses, and cash and prize incentives. Employees, though, are really happiest when they are able to identify with the brands culture and work culture, where the work environment allows flexibility and work-life balance, and most importantly, where they see and feel a clear sense on their career advancement. While most wear their work uniforms temporarily or seasonally they also would like to feel that their experience would be a stepping stone to a future career. They appreciate being the receiving end of any mentoring, training, and on the job evaluation and feedback which would be a great help in bettering themselves. It is how the employees feel that their employers are interested in helping them get to where they want to be. The best companies usually have a formalized review process that details the different evaluations they have for their employees and how they can enhance them into better employees.
